About Kim Abrahams
I am an internationally registered Social Worker in private practice, providing mental health services for adolescents, adults and parents. I have been providing clients with a wide range of therapeutic and social work services for over 14 years. For 10 years I practiced in England, working within various local authorities, organisations and Family Courts. This international exposure has enabled me to provide a range of support and counselling and welfare services to children, parents and caregivers of diverse personalities, cultures, nationalities, ethnicities and backgrounds. One of my unique skills is having a diverse understanding of various African cultures and systems.
I have a passion for striving to remove the stigmas associated with mental health. When I'm not at my practice, I am based at a wonderful primary school in the southern suburbs as a School Counsellor. I am passionate working with welfare organisations and serve as a Board Member for Life Matters Foundation - an organisation very dear to my heart.
I enjoy being involved in the media and have appeared on the Expresso Show (SABC 3) as a mental health expert and contribute to a variety of articles in print media and radio.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) degree in Social Work from the University of Cape Town and a Postgraduate Certificate specialising in Children and Families from Kingston University, London.
I take pride in providing everyone who walks through my door with a non-judgemental environment which upholds sound therapeutic and social work ethics. My approach to mental health can be best described as progressive, inclusive and holistic, with a strong focus on empowering every client who walks through my door with the knowledge and skills to be the best version of who they are.
Life can be overwhelming and sometimes even exhausting, but I am here to guide you through any obstacles you may face.
