About Kim Abrahams
For more than 15 years, I have served diverse client populations in various settings within Cape Town and the United Kingdom.
One of my unique skills is having a diverse understanding of various African cultures and systems.
I am proudly British and South African and work between my Cape Town practice and London.
At the practice, I prioritise building and maintaining a rapport with my clients, so they feel confident in knowing that they have entered a safe space.
My clients are the experts on their lives, and I work from a client-centered approach to help them experience meaningful gains. I believe in using evidence-based therapeutic interventions and the primary modalities which I incorporate include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Individual Trauma-Focused Treatment.
I have a passion for striving to remove the stigmas associated with mental health. I enjoy being involved in the media and have appeared on the Expresso Show (SABC 3) as a mental health expert and contribute to a variety of articles in print media and radio.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) degree in Social Work from the University of Cape Town and a Postgraduate Certification awarded by Kingston University, London.
I take pride in meeting my clientele where they are and provide in-person appointments, as well as teletherapy for clients who’s lifestyles don’t allow them time to come into the practice.
