About Kim Abrahams

I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) degree in Social Work from the University of Cape Town and a Postgraduate Certification awarded by Kingston University, London.

At the practice, I prioritise building and maintaining a rapport with my clients, so they feel confident in knowing that they have entered a safe space. One of my unique skills is having a diverse understanding of various African cultures and systems. I base my practice in an integrative approach using Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused methodology, psychodynamic and person-centered interventions where appropriate. I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations.

My special interests lie within treating depression, anxiety, grief and relationship/family breakdowns.

I have a passion for striving to remove the stigmas associated with mental health. I enjoy being involved in the media and have appeared on the Expresso Show (a South African morning television show) as a mental health expert and contribute to a variety of articles in print media and radio.
