Kim Abrahams
Consultant. Speaker. Strategist.
Why I do this work.
My path has never been linear. Growing up between cultures and working between South Africa and the UK taught me early on that there is no single, cookie-cutter way to navigate life or work. That perspective is woven into everything I do. I believe opportunities don't just happen to us by chance. We build them, piece by piece, when we are willing to step outside what is familiar.
My path began in London working with frontline child protection services as a social worker, later stepping into independent practice as a forensic assessor. London remains my second home, despite the temperamental weather! Navigating international systems, legal frameworks, and unique cultural contexts gave me something no qualification alone could: a deep lived understanding and appreciation of how human behaviour and systems shape individuals, families, workplaces and communities.
I had the privilege of being the first South African social worker to serve as the resident mental health expert for national television on the Expresso Morning Show. Internationally, I am honoured to be the first South African mental health professional to hold Contributing Expert status on Insight Timer, where I continue to host webinars for mental health professionals globally.
Over the past 20 years, my work has spanned judicial consulting across the UK and South Africa, serving as a board member for Life Matters Foundation, scaling a thriving private practice as a therapist and working within acclaimed academic institutions and corporations.
My career has now led me to focus on speaking, organisational wellness consulting, and providing a separate creative service to support professionals in their personal digital brand development.
When I am not consulting, you will find me enjoying nature with my energetic springer spaniel, or losing an ongoing battle with writer's block.
